Just got the renewal costs for my healthcare insurance effective January 1, 2011. Current cost is $121 biweekly, new cost is $208 biweekly, a 71% increase. Glad I can keep my current plan and it won't cost a penny more!

How much of an increase are you experiencing?

I work from home and do a low premium, high deductible plan for my family. I just want insurance in the classic sense of being covered for unexpected large expenses. Plans today are too much like car insurance would be if it included oil changes, tire rotations, and a full gas tank every week.

Like Steve, I'm on a high deductible plan. Based on the plans offered by the school division where I work, it's the most cost effective. For a family plan I pay about $500 a month and I have a $2500 individual deductible or $5000 total family deductible.

Like most people I pay more for my insurance than I'd like to pay. However, my company just subscribed to a new wellness program and if you participate it cuts your premiums substantially. It's easy for me because all the things they want me to do I'm already doing (exercise, diet, cholestrol, smoking, etc.)
