Has anyone ever questioned your transcript?

    Here's a scary story...

When I was hired by my company, the position required a Bachelor's degree, and it was Masters degree preferred. I have a Masters and was hired. I found it odd though that THEY NEVER ASKED TO SEE MY TRANSCRIPTS! They hired me with a Mast pay correlating to a Masters degree because it was written on my resume. Eventually I asked HR if they wanted to see my transcripts. They said it was OK, but I still sent them a scanned copy of my Diploma for my file.

Now I wish I had said I had a PhD or JD for the pay!

For my government position yes: as has been previously mentioned, because it was a qualifier for the job in a specific area.
The only other time was that a teacher's credential program wanted to check the span of a particular class due to state licensing requirements: I had to get a copy of the 30-year-old catalog description. Plus, I took the DSST on Human Growth and Development to assuage possible fears I had forgotten everything.

    Never been asked

    Just my .02,
I have been never been asked for my transcripts, just a copy of my degree.

I asked my friend that is a recruiter, and he told me the same as this board "sometimes in an academic situation, but never in business." He emphasised that the strength of the interview, the recommendations, employment history, were usually the deciding factor. Education opens the door, but will rarely close it. His experience has him believing that a great college degree(s) with a lousy interview never gets the job.

I wouldn't worry about your transcripts. Practice your interview skills, people skills, communication, etc. Good luck.

    Not legal right for military.....

I believe someone already said that for certain federal jobs, official transcripts may be necessary. I just wanted to reiterate that official transcripts are required for officer packages of any branch of the armed forces.

It may very well be your legal right. But then again, I doubt you'll be allowed to submit a package based on that rationale. :p
