Does anyone have any thoughts on this university Gulf American University? I received an unsolicted email from them about their programs. Is this an acccredited University?

Don't send money. No it is not accredited in any sense that is meaningful, for this group. It says it's "part of" Girne American University, in Northern Cyprus. That's not even recognized as a country - by any other country except Turkey. I find most of their claims preposterous - and who knows, they, or perhaps, Mr. Erdogan might send "agents" after me for saying this. I see it has the approval-sticker of California U-um-F-um-C-uh-E. That settles it. Neither accreditation nor credibility. No dice. See if you can get off that mailing list.

Plus - This thing is about as "American" as shashlik, a.k.a. kebab. American in name only, for advertising purposes. Like their use of the word "University."

Yeah, the accreditation in Northern Cyprus is unusual to say the least. A form of accreditation that definitely raises eyebrows. And Gulf American isn't even synonomous with the actual Girne American University, so it's a very low threshold.

Plus, their domain is a giveaway. See what they did there, with the "edu" ?
As I usually say in these cases: "Git th' rope, Clem!"

Amateurish web-page, too. Lots of "click here for more" and you can't. There's nothing - somebody doesn't know how, or forgot to put links in the html, I guess. Real universities just don't DO this kind of thing. They have their images to protect. I don't think this place has an image. To start with, they need better templates - and to know their use.

I thought it odd as unversities do not send unsolicited emails to obtain students but I like to validate these things by utlizing the knowlegable members of degreeinfo- appreciate the feedback- Thanks Johann and Tadj

An "American" University with a presence in Northern Cyprus, they say, but established in a "free zone" within the UAE. Is that a DUTY-free zone? In that case, I'll take two bottles of Dom Perignon, that nice Girard-Perregaux watch - and matching PhD's for me and my lady friend, please... This was fun - thanks, @laferney! :)

Gulf American University is registered, licensed & regulated under Creative City Free Zone, Government of Fujairah, UAE & approved to provide all categories of training. In Association with Girne American University, Cyprus, West Coast University, Panama/USA & Medical Career Academy, UK.

So in addition to having the backing of California University FCE and the Amorsolo family, GAU is also endorsed by West Coast University Panama...WCU, formerly known as West Coast Institute of Management and Technology, Perth, Australia was one of many pre-Axact degree mills in Pakistan. Founded in Karachi, Pakistan by Sarfraz Lloyd, WCIMT was one of Axact's competitors in the late 1990s.

Professor Lloyd is still around, and in interesting company. Dr Mohamed Gamal Kafafy and Professor Bashiru Aremu both hold interesting degrees. 'nough said.

London School of Management and Medical Career Academy UK...well, the main campus of both is apparently a two-bedroom leasehold terraced house in Greater Manchester, UK.

Thanks! As always, the straight goods, from the best source. Highly appreciated and good to hear from you. :)

PS - I gave up reading after "Girne American U." so I missed the part about West Coast (and by extension, Sarfraz Lloyd.) Thanks for catching it. Confirms all suspicions.
