    Grrrrr!

While I understand most people's hesitation to attend a DETC college, I decided Grantham was for me. I have the GI Bill, and it's paying for the tution - I'm completing the courses faster than the books are coming in - and that's the problem.

For every course I complete, an automated system is suppose to send my next course (including the books). However, since starting my first semester I've had to call and request them. I've heard several excuses as to why I'm not getting the books automatically. I've verified my status with counslers, by phone, and even complained in e-mail. Just when I thought things were going well...I completed my last course and had to complain again to get my books! This is crazy. This is the second e-mail that I have sent to Grantham' Registar, Gina Tyrney

"I was 50% completed with my Financial Accounting course on March 23. I completed the course (within the skin of my teeth) March 31 – and I still don’t have my next course. Whatever methodology you use with me to deliver books when a course is 50% completed is broke! Because I rely on my GI Bill, you can understand the need to have the books & courses sent on a timely basis. I decided this time not to wait a week to inform of you yet another screw up about my coursework. Because I have to beg, ask, call, or complain whenever I complete a course for my next lesson, I will not re-enroll with Grantham next semester. Even after I thought this issue was resolved I still have to ask:

Can you please send my next course?"

So, she replied that she's sending my next course. That's it. No pleas to stay, no questions, no dialog. I called the Univeristy Presdient and left a message - In fairness, I'm still waiting for a return call from him to help with this problem.

The thing that REALLY pisses me off:

I like Grantham. I like the self paced nature of the coursework. I like the idea I don't have to sit in a class and listen to an instructor drone about something and then wait for him to repeat himself because another student doesn't understand. It's just this book timing issue really steams me - and I thought this was a good place to vent! Thanks for reading.

When I was a military counselor, the few students I had who enrolled with your school complained about the poor customer support. It was very difficult to resolve anything, and the response reported to me concerning curriculum was RTFM. Based on that second-hand information, I did not aggressively promote them for my tuition assistance users, trying instead to get them into RA courses that met their needs. :(
