I finished the MBA at NCU with the CJ specialization and have already received a couple of college CJ teaching assignments. So it can be done.

I have no complaints about the program at NCU, but it is important to weigh all the options.

I was very fortunate as I recevied tuition reimbursement from my agency for the MBA. There is nothing in place for the doctoral program.

    Best wishes with your search.

Actually, Heriot Watt has a Title IV school code for the FAFSA form. Title IV aid is available for students attending schools outside of the U.S. This is the info I pulled up on the FAFSA Federal School Code Search:

    HERIOT WATT UNIVERSITY
    RICCARTON
    EDINBURGH
    Federal School Code: G22739

After much reading and comparison NCU MBA with an emphasis in either Homeland Security or CJ is the winner if I can get it approved for tuition reimbursment.

One question though, will they accept my DETC accredited BS as sufficient?

Do they require a GMAT? GRE? Etc?

    okay, more like 4 questions.:p

It gets better by the minute. I can hardly wait to speak to HR.:D

Do you know if it possible to get any kind of tuition assistance other than employer if the school does not participate in Title IV?

Anthing like a federally guaranteed loan?

Unfortunately, the federally guaranteed loans (formerly known as GSLs) and Title IV are one and the same. You might check out the Student Loan Marketing Association (SLMA), aka Sallie Mae. I suppose you could also check out this thing called Access Group that regularly has those annoying pop-up ads over at www.gradschools.com .

    Guys, you all rock.

I'm checking into SLM and my HR dept.

I think I can swing this.

Does anyone know how difficult their MBA program is? Specifically is there a Master Thesis required? How intensive is the math?

    I'm a bit of a chickin'

I see no mention of a thesis on their website. Also, you could, if you so desire, get direct admission to their PhD in Business Administration/Criminal Justice (the 81-hour program) and pick up your MBA on the way (after 30 hours).

No master's thesis is required. The coursework is challenging, but if you stick to the syllabus there is plenty of time to get the work done. Only one "math" course (accounting/finance) but the math was straight forward not too hard.

If you go with a CJ specialization, you start with:

    LS6010MBA- Research methods. (3 credits)

    One Accounting/Finance Course : (3 credits)

One General Management Course (3 credits)

    One Marketing Course (3 credits)

Six Criminal Justice Classes (18 credits)

    2 Electives (6 credits)

Aspen University Online Interactive delivery (cohort groups)

    Hi,

Does anyone have experience with Aspen Universities Online Interactive delivery (cohort groups). If u r have experince pls do answer these questions.

    1. Is the forum well used by instructors to create debates, discussions among students.

    2. Do they use it for grading. What sort of mateiral is posted and expected by students to do on these forums.

    3. Do students prefer Online Interactive more then independent study or vice versa.

If u have more information on Aspens MBA program delivered thru Online Interactive , then pls do post.

Are u aware of any other DETC accredited schools which use online forums for MBA program delivery.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
Have a look at the Aspen course demo.. that may give you a better idea. Basically, in the interactive option, students need to interact with each other every week in scheduled discussions that are graded... other than that, there has been an option for joint projects but regular assignments and tests are of course independent.

    Aspe

I had a conversation with an advisor at Aspen, from what he mentioned it seems, Aspen has total 500 students...around 200 to 250 in MBA program, and nearly 85% MBA students taking independent, and only 15% doing the interactive webbased courses..
I wonder why 15%, it is so less. He said they usually dont cancel cohort classes, but it may be a possibility if less the 5 to 8 students are in the class...

If u have any more info, such as how seriously do instructors take forums into consideration, and the quality of instructors, and subjects, and aspen's comparision to AJU then pls do post.

    Thnks
