The son of Governor Bush has been arrested.

  2. Though many of my previous postings here show that I have no "love" for the Bush family in general, I find postings that show no compassion for this situation completely distasteful. For Christ's sake that could easily be one of our OWN children in that situation..... In fact, it is somewhat heartwarming to see that Governor Bush deals with the same dysfunctional family issues that many of us in these post-modern times also deal with.

I'm just glad I grew up in the era that I did - where police repression, anti-drunk-driving psycho organizations (like MADD), and anti-drug moralists were much more in the background instead of the foreground of our national ethos.....

Kids will be kids - let them enjoy their young adulthood and the mistakes that can happen without demonizing them, their parents, or wishing for "gang rapes" of these hapless victims of our social malaise.....

    Good post, Carl.

Give Governor Bush credit for not intervening thereby allowing the laws of the state work indiscriminately.

I agree. If it was the governor who was arrested, please report it because it does have relevance.

The governor's son has little relevance for me and many others, I suspect. I'd never even heard of him before today.

    Carl,

BOY HOWDY could it happen to any of our children! Past a certain age, say, thirteen, I don't think parents should ever be blamed for their children's criminal, or alleged criminal acts.

Not that parents aren't ever at fault, to be sure, but no parent is perfect and even very good parents who produce very well behaved children also occasionally produce a kid who gets into trouble.

I mean, it isn't really fair to hold GHWB for the manifold deficiencies of HIS offspring, Neil, Jeb and GWB!

I agree with you all -- well except for that one comment that's gone.

My kids have thankfully been pretty well behaved but they have done some really stupid things. I did some even stupider (is that word) things as a young adult and quite frankly have only myself and my poor decision making to blame.

    Remember...

We live in a country where it is ok to arrest a parent for their child's failure to go to school and at the same time that child has a right to privacy for birth control and/or abortions. Then, god fobid, a good parent so much as grab's one of their children hard enough that it leaves bruises while at the same time it is often virtually impossible to remove a child from their abusive parent.

    Ridiculous......

Would it have been news if the son or daughter of any other governor had been arrested? Or is the real news not so much that the governor's son got arrested but rather that the individual arrested was nephew of one president and grandson of another president?

I think a little of both. A number of governor's children have made the news over the years.

Former Louisiana Governor John Julian McKeithen's son made the news quite often for various run in's with the law.
