    "Of course, the education department thinks it has a say in what is taught because it has offered federal grants to these institutions."

    And they're right: he who pays the piper calls the tune. It makes me think that Hillsdale College in Michigan and Grove City College in Pennsylvania were right not to take federal funds, even Title IV, so as to maintain their independence.

    I'd be willing to bet that there's nothing in the paperwork associated with those grants that states the government can dictate curriculum.
