The biggest reason Republicans no longer want to support Ukraine is because Donald Trump doesn't want them to. There's little doubt in my mind that Trump doesn't want to support Ukraine primarily because he wants to support Putin. First to get Putin's help in the 2024 election. Second to get financial riches from Russia for himself.

There's little doubt in my mind - in fact, none at all, that Mr. Zelenskyy is well aware of this, too. And if this aid is struck down, the US will look like crap, at home and internationally - now and in the history books. And Trump will not care. He'll be busy building Mar-a-Lago II in lovely Crimea-by-the-Sea.

Vladimir Putin is a shrewd despot. He knows how to reward his vassals according to their tastes. Hence, Pee-Pee-Gate etc. for Trump. Didn't cost Vlad much - did the job. I hear Putin has his tailor put extra pockets in all his suits. One pocket for each Head of State or top-level foreign government functionary in his portfolio.

I'm ready to see Pr. Biden re elected, If his health allows him. Hard left frightens me with their support of pro Political Jihad influenced protesters.

As to GOP, I have a candidate that I support
Nikki Haley, former South Carolina governor and 2024 Republican presidential candidate, said helping Ukraine defend itself from Russian aggression is in the U.S. national interest, breaking with leading party candidates Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, who have voiced more ambiguous positions on the war.
Think candidates with "Love letters" to/from dictators like Kim and Put, are suspicious and make me paranoid.

I too am hoping that Niki Haley wins the nomination. Although the only way I see that happening is if SCOTUS rules that Trump is ineligible to serve due to the 14th amendment. I'd rather see Niki win the nomination in spite of the fact that I think Trump would be easier to beat in the general election than Niki Haley. To not endanger our democracy, it's best if Trump is kept as far away from the oval office as possible.

Niki Haley has been all over the map supporting Trump, then not supporting him, then going full MAGA, supporting him again, etc., etc., etc.

Trump was a major force in encouraging some of the worst behaviors in politicians, so the country has too many such authoritarian, anti democratic individuals. So it's not just Trump we have to worry about destroying our democracy, but his minions in Congress and in the courts (especially the SCOTUS) as well.

I don't think Niki Haley has shown the strength or enough conviction to deal with all the MAGA troops who would march forward to foment another rebellion. As a President she would be laissez faire about many further civil and human rights being stripped away by Congress, various state legislators, SCOTUS, even her own executive branch.

There were many things that I supported about president Trump, did I agree with everything? No, it's not like card blanch, so it's really on issues and actions. Someone may support, others may reject.
I think Haley is a strong candidate and can do a lot of good for the GOP, I don't see her as radical right. Time will show, I do want to see her on the ticket.

Unfortunately, with Nikki Haley you would get a politician who cannot say "slavery" out loud until others (with more strength and conviction than she has) say it first.

Niki can't say slavery. DeSantis is even more strange about it. Claiming that slaves learned valuable things that helped them personally and forcing that nonsense into schools!! Trump too is bad on that kind of stuff as well, being the racists that he is.

    N. Haley has announced today that as president, she would give a pardon to Trump, "for the good of the country." This is what I mean by her not having strength/conviction to deal creatively with and resist MAGA cultists. Pardoning him (whether or not he is convicted of any of the 90+ criminal counts filed against him) is the last thing anyone should do because it guarantees more and more--potentially decades--of escalating MAGA mess until Trump passes on to his afterlife. She is either saying this to appease MAGAs (including Trump himself), or because it is her real intention. Either way, she would bring us trouble .

If he is convicted he should go to prison. If from prison he continues his attack against the Constitution, he should be kept in the same type of confinement as other terrorists, where he has no access to the Internet or other means to communicate his strategic plan or attack orders to current or potential followers. The only allowance might be a (weekly or monthly or quarterly) status report to allay rumors by conspiracists of something nefarious happening to him.
