    Fellows,
This is a good gesture from the Government of St Kitts & the Nevis. I hope the effect will spill over to help Bernes U's public image & acceptance here :.) Enjoy reading it.

Caribbean island offers free holidays for rescuers

THE Caribbean island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis has offered free holidays to firefighters, rescue workers and police involved in the search and cleanup effort after the attacks on Washington and New York.

Prime Minister Denzil Douglas saluted their "super-human efforts" and offered a one-week, all expenses paid vacation on the islands.

"As a way of showing our own appreciation here in St. Kitts and Nevis, and giving recognition to these rescue workers, our local hotel and tourism sector, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, will offer them the opportunity to take a well-deserved vacation of up to one week at our local hotels free of cost on the completion of their tasks in New York and Washington," Douglas said on Wednesday in remarks reported by the Caribbean Media Corp.

The two tropical islands in the Leeward Islands chain cover about 104 square miles (270 sq.km) and are known for their coral beaches, like other Caribbean islands, they are heavily dependent on tourism and are anxious that they will suffer as a result of the attacks on the United States

This is indeed a nice gesture, Timmy. I can't help but wonder, do you think they would throw in a free Berne degree with the package too? [IMG]

No Russell or should I say Dr. Morris?:.) Berne's Degrees will be too expensive to add on.

    Russell is fine, Timmy.

Seriously, this really is a nice gesture. Those who have been involved in the relief effort deserve recognition.

I agree 100%. I just thought it worth mentioning that many scam charities have erupted out of this tragedy. I can't believe that some people would try to profit from a catastrophe like this, but they do.

If anyone wants to make a contribution to the relief efforts...if you have any questions whatsoever about who you're donating to, play it safe and donate to a 100% legitimate source like the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

I've read that a number of Nevada hotels have made the same offer.

PS: There is casino gambling on St. Kitts as well.
