The North Central Association, along with the other five regionals, are very clear on this. A degree earned by a school that is unaccredited or in candidacy is an unaccredited degree. However, a degree awarded *after* a school is granted accreditation is accredited. So the obvious choice would be to start work on the program but not complete your degree until after accreditation is awarded... assuming that it is, eventually, awarded. I think it took Union something like 9 years. And lots of other schools make it to candidacy, but never make it to accreditation... so it is a gamble in any case, but one that probably has reasonable odds.

On the other hand, if you gamble and win (they get accreditation), it is unlikely that, except for professional degrees (clinical psychologist, for example), anyone would even notice if you got your degree before or after accreditation. I suspect, however, that the APA and state licensing boards would make an issue of this.

    (R) Senator John McCain of Arizona. Arizona is a Southern State.
You meant Arizona is Northcentral relatively to Mexico.
Give the posters on this board a break. We are not geographic incompetence.

Using Northcentral because it is located in North Central Arizona makes absolute sense to me. Besides, when they got around to changing their names all the other good ones like Argosy and Excelsior were already taken.

Let's not forget, there is a Northwestern in Illinois, and a Northwestern State in Oclahoma. Should they be changing their names too.

P.S. I know that Northwestern U. was founded in 1851 so please don't ask me to check out an 1850's map.
