The court filing by Dominion proves that Fox News lies to their audience. As has been discussed many times on this forum about 70% of Republicans believe the Trump lies that Trump won in 2020. The reason that so many Republican believe this Big Lie is because Trump's lies have been repeated many time on Fox News and the other less reliable conservative news sources like Newsmax and OANN.

The court filing by Dominion has many examples of Fox reporters, Fox celebrities, and Fox management admitting in private conversations that Trump's Big Lie is stupid ridiculous and without merit. Almost everyone at Fox was more concerned with the Fox stock value and losing customers to their competitors. Reporters that told the truth were quickly disciplined and threatened with termination.

Note that Reuters has a perfect rating on MediaBiasFactCheck.

My guess is that Fox News reputation is going to take a big hit because of this. It is already the least reliable source for the three major cable news networks, Fox, CNN, and MSNBC. The MBFC bias rating for Fox is worst of the three already. CNN has the best bias rating of the three on MBFC.

Here's the absolutely horrible other two news sources that I mentioned.

No more talk about "lame stream media" and conspiracy theories. No more "stolen election" nonsense. And no more bothsidesism regarding media networks, huh?

Fox News gave up the game with this one.

This kind of devastating info rarely makes it into the public domain for these kind of lawsuits. Usually the lawsuits like this are settled out of court before this time. Fox has not settled the Dominion lawsuit, I assume because Dominion says that the damage to them has been horrible and they think that they can get at least 1.6 billion dollars from Fox News. So it appears that Fox is going to fight this suit to the bitter end. Reporting is that even worse has been found during the discovery process that has not yet been reported. Buckle your seat belts, it is going to be a wild ride. Depending on your political persuasion maybe it would be more appropriate to say grab your popcorn and settle in for a great show?

It's legally interesting because Dominion is asking the Court to decide liability without trial. For a libel plaintiff to do this is uncommon but Dominion has so much evidence that it should work.

I do not know where Fox and people like Kari Lake get the idea that you can make false accusations and damage reputations at will in public and there will be no consequences. It isn't true. Never has been true.

I can. The country was being led--as much as anyone can lead from that position--by a lying narcissist who was doing the best he could to tear down the effectiveness of anyone seeming to be a threat--and that included the entire Judicial and Legislative branches, plus anyone in the Executive branch deemed insufficiently loyal.
Those people don't truck in truth. They really believed our nation's institutions would not be able to withstand a sheer onslaught by those would would not play by the rules.

I'm not convinced they were entirely wrong. Given the long-term, top-to-bottom impact on the judiciary, not to mention a significant portion of the electorate, I'd say we're not out of the woods yet.
