Ive looked for some guidance and just cant figure out how to determine if I meet a Non-US university's % requirement.

For example, the University of Pretoria offers a Sociology DPhil by Research and has as a requirement: "A relevant master's degree with a minimum of 65% for the dissertation in the master’s programme ".

What exactly dose that mean? Is it that i graduated in the top 35% of my class?

How do i convert a GPA to a Percentage, or must I verify that I meet this requirement some other way?

Any advise or experience that others can share would be much appreciated,

    Mike

They use a different grading system, and I don't think you'll find a direct correlation with grade systems typically seen in the U.S.

I know of one UK school where 50% is passing, 60% is "with merit," and 70% is "with distinction." That's the grade range, 50-70%. (Below 50% is Unacceptable and, typically, the assignment must be re-submitted.) But I wouldn't say that there is a correlation between that and the A-B-C system we see in the U.S. (In other words, you couldn't equate 50% with a B, 60% with an A, etc.)

You should write the school and ask what the acceptable equivalent is for students coming from the U.S.
