I'm very surprised that neither the letter from the DOE (https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/investigations/more/03212170-b.pdf) nor the consent agreement (https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/investigations/more/03212170-a.pdf) identified the professor by name.

I took that as a challenge. I checked about 20 news reports, including lowball, sensationalist ones I felt might have some "leaked info" on the name. Nuthin'.

I'm not completely surprised. Three possible explanations, varying degrees of flimsiness, Best I can come up with:

    (1) MAYBE, after being fired, this ex-prof will (hopefully) wise up, get help and eventually get another job (of some kind) somewhere.
If the name is public record all over -- that probably kills the chance of that - whatever the job. Maybe forever. I don't necessarily go along with this, but I can see a point. Yes, the person should be punished. That process has already started with dismissal. But to render this person unable to support themselves for life? You decide.

    (2) Possibly a court case - or cases may arise from this. Perhaps nobody wants to make the name public, thus influencing people,in a particular case, one way or another before trial - and have the defendant's counsel claim that the defendant can't get a fair trial etc. etc. etc. My take: the defendant should have thought about that before acting.

    (3) Perhaps the DoE and the college realize that, to release the name and have this person undergo a lot of anonymous hate-calls and occasional bricks through the window, would not accomplish anything helpful.

Perhaps there's a family involved here. Kids... Not just the economic consequences either. Kids and parents could (unfairly) become pariahs. This is a tough one.
