I decided to join up with Excelsior after hearing all the good things. I am in New Zealand and have studied Electronics and computer programming here. I got my credits evaluated at ECE and they said I have 138 credit hours. Sounds good right coz the Excelsior Electronics degree is 124 credits but of course mine dont quite line up. I did expect however at leat 70-80 credits as my Degree was covered by the Sydney Accord which is recognised by ABET. I missed the degree by one paper (calculus 2). It was a 3 year Btech degree here in New Zealand. Well Excelsior is only offering me 34 credits today on the initial official assessment after enrolment. This is pathetic & does not justify my continuation. Even before the enrolment the best I could get them to offer was 48 credits. The only reason I was prepared to continue was because my unrecognised credits can get me a BS in computer science also from another University if I completed the additional Excelsior required credits. So at 30-40 credits its going to be no deal - I have 138 credits for heavens sake. I have just sent them a message that if I don't begin with approximately 50 credits we wont be doing business. I do concede that much of the blame falls on the appalling bureaucracy at my old college and also I did not keep my old lab manuals & assignments. So now I can only wait for the reply from them. Apart from this problem I have been quite impressed so far with the deal at Excelsior. But this is the bottom line - they have not granted credits for many papers clearly completed. If any one can give me advise as to how I can get the credits out of them it would be much appreciated. The registrar at my old uni in New Zealand is a total ass and its nearly impossible to get him to do anything helpful.
