I just got an email from Excelsior College saying that effective 9/1/201 they would "no longer grant credit for any GRE Subject test." Is this an often used method for obtaining credit?
That's a major policy change. GRE Subject credit was a cornerstone of their program going back to the Regents days.
I agree. Excelsior College (Regents College) has certainly steered from their original slogan of and I very roughly qoute, :It's not important where you got your knowledge but that you have it." GRE subject exams was a wonderful way to earn credit. I wonder if COSC or TESC accept GRE?
I would really like to know the back story on this but if the past is any indication, they will probably be completely silent about it
COSC used to grant up to 18 credits for a subject GRE (or was it 24?), while Excelsior granted up to 30.
I can only infer from what my advisor said to me back in June when they first mentioned that this might be happening, but some of the higher ups weren't fond of GRE Subject test for credit system that they'd been running. I just think its assinine that they basically gave people 4 days... (and apparently they're closed on Monday, as well) If this was approved on the 11th, they could have had the decency to let their students know on the 12th, instead of the 27th..
