It looks like another good university is offering up MSBA for Working Professionals. Emory is located in Georgia and is what I’d consider the #1 Business School in the state with GT Scheller and Georgia Terry following after. It appears to be a very fast paced program being done in just 10 months with on-campus courses on alternate Wednesdays and Fridays for those in Atlanta area with live streaming for those outside of the area. It appears like it could be a good program. Core courses are: •Business Statistics •Managing Big Data •Intro to Business Analytics •AI & Machine Learning •Data Visualization •AI & Machine Learning at Scale •Decision Analytics & Optimization •Analytics Practicum It appears the elective courses (you need 2) will be in the areas of: •Information Systems •Operations Management •Marketing •Organization and Management There are (4) residencies in Atlanta that are required throughout the 10 month program. I agree, Josh. I think Emory is a great place to study business. Or many other subjects, for that matter. Another hot program there (to me) is the Master of Analytical Finance. It's here: https://goizueta.emory.edu/masters-in-finance
My Harvard Extension organic chemistry lab partner went on to get her PhD in Neuroscience there (a traditional on-campus program).
First thing I ever came across re: Emory was an absorbing presentation of Southern poets reading their own work at the school. It was available for download and I still have it, from maybe 15+ years ago. Emory does a whole lot of things well.
I live here and Emory is absolutely a top quality school with great programs. Their masters of public health is one of the top programs in the country and their law school is a T30 school. But you pay for it. The XMSBA looks like a great progam and I love the format...but it costs 86k.
It is Emory, but $86,000.00 is over the hype. There is no guaranteed return on investment. My nephew is applying for Georgia Tech's Master of Science in Analytics with a Data Science track; the program also offers a Business Analytics track. It is more cost-effective for less than $10,000. Also, my Alma mater, Imperial College London, offers one (Master of Science in Business Analytics) for half price. I live in Atlanta and have been looking at GT and Emory for any part-time doctorate program in business and technology, but these schools don't offer part-time doctorate programs.
No - because the individual effort / success determines the ROI. You 'run with the ball' (degree) and hope for six points. Of course, if the ball cost $86,000 I might run a little faster. Want guaranteed ROI? Buy a CD, (Certificate of Deposit) I guess. Not a degree. A US Business degree with guaranteed ROI? Oh, maybe Duke / Fuqua - nothing else comes to mind.
I say that about Duke /Fuqua for two reasons -- known great academics and (so I'm informed) REALLY good chances to make valuable connections. That network is where much of the ROI will come from. Of course - no "specific numbers" guarantee, but it's certainly "backed by assets." It's up to you to "work the network" ... and for some, I'm told the returns can be spectacular, over time. Friendships are a very valuable part of that.
