Hello! Does someone have an informed opinion about the certificates you can get on ed2go? From what I have read, they are just certificates of attendance and you do not need to show any actual ability to get one, isn't it? Best regards, Mac Juli
There are any amount of reviews for this school. Just Google ed2go reviews and you'll get hundreds. One of the main complaints was no-or-low interaction with the school during the course. They provide a lot of test prep courses for professional exams, e.g. for Certified Administrative Professional and for IT designations, e.g. CCNA. These seem very expensive. One complainant mentioned he had paid $2495 for the prep CCNA course. Just read a few reviews. I think you'll be able to reach a quick decision here.
Similarly, I got my Project Management Professional (PMP) after taking a $30 Udemy course. A colleague paid $1500 for a 35 hour class that really didn't help him pass the exam. Sometimes more isn't always better.
Right. The guy I mentioned, who paid $2495 for CCNA prep, didn't pass the exam, IIRC. And I think that exam is the beginning one in the Cisco chain. I wonder how much ed2go charges for prep courses in the higher exams. ... !!! Edit: No - CCNA (Cisco-certified Network Associate) is the second in the series - CCST (Cisco-Certfied Support Technician) is the first. Many choices at third and fourth levels -- Professional and Expert.
Ed2Go partners with dozens (maybe hundreds- I haven't counted them, but it's a heck of a lot) of universities. You can pick which university you want on your certificate, and the prices for the same exact course vary depending on the university you choose. Some of the courses lead to a certificate issued directly from the school's continuing education department instead of the automated co-branded certificates (same idea as edX and Coursera) most of the courses lead to. Generally, their courses are way too expensive for what they are, but there are some cheap and some free offerings. I don't really like the platform. It's pretty basic and cheap looking, like Alison. But I have learned a thing or two in the handful of courses I tried a while back. EDIT: I'm having some trouble finding any current free course. So, either they're only offered on a limited time basis, or I'm just bad at navigating and searching the site.
I did the Andrew Ramdayal course: https://www.udemy.com/course/pmp-certification-exam-prep-course-pmbok-6th-edition/ This course meets the 35 hours of PM experience required by PMI and it has a "mindset section" that helps you answer 70% of the questions just by following the rules given (e.g. never make an immediate decision unless criminality is involved.) It also includes sample exams. This course was all I needed and I passed AT (Above Target) on all 3 sections. I have colleagues who paid $1500 for training courses and didn't get all that was in this $25 course.
You're welcome. One more thing: shell out for the year of PMI membership. It costs $149 and knocks the same amount off your PMP exam price. It also gives you access to free PDUs. Complete them in your first year of membership and you can get a head start on your next 3 year renewal.
ed2go certs are a dime a dozen, they're all freebies but very intro level, I'd rather spend the time on Coursera/Edx options instead...
"All freebies?" No - not all. Some are $2,495. Two and a half grand! And according to reviews, they're no better... "Hey ho, hey ho! Ed2go has got2go." "What's the problem, Officer? This is a peaceful demonstration. We had a permit ... uh, somewhere...."
Hello! I was almost sure that ed2go would not be the right thing for me, thanks for confirming it! Best regards, Mac Juli
Hello! Maybe it's the right thing for someone else: https://www.goodwillsa.org/free-online-courses Best regards, Mac Juli
Thank Dustin, I just signed up for it today. It was $14.99 !!!! Getting my PMP has been on my bucket list. How help was it in prepping for the exam
It was an enormous help. 100% made the difference between failing and passing Above Target. You won't regret it.
