Hello, Would appreciate some help for a friend who is looking for a distance learning program in economics or some combination of econ/finance. What are the "better" schools/programs out there that offer these types of programs via distance learning? Thank you.....
Economics, at least in terms of doing a full degree, seems to be a bit of a void in the DL world. Others may have some leads. I can only suggest University of London's External Programme, which offers both undergraduate and graduate economics options. www.londonexternal.ac.uk Expanding to finance there are many more options (ie: MBA prorams).
If your just looking to pick up Graduate level credits online APUS has 7 or 8 different Econ courses..
At the undergraduate level Athabasca has a BA in political economy. http://www.athabascau.ca/calendar/page03_05_09.html
Hello, Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I should have mentioned that she is looking for an entire degree program and not individual courses. Thank you
If your are looking for undergraduate programs, Strayer has a B.S. in Economics. http://www.strayer.edu/campus_catalog/all/all/strayer_university_online/bachelor_of_science/BSEC
Some more econ (and related) programs There is a BA Economics program at the undergraduate level being offered by University of Illinois Springfield. http://www.uis.edu/cbam/curriculum/online/economicsOnline.html The University of Strathclyde offers and MSc in Economic and Management Policy. http://www.mscemp.org/ The University of Reading offers an MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking and offers some courses with a higher math requirement. http://www.icmacentre.ac.uk/undergraduate_and_postgraduate_courses/msc_international_securities,_investment__and_bank/msc_isib_distance_learning
This program is taught by the London School of Economics (part of U of London) - a prestigous school. Also the price is great at under $6,000 for the BSc
It isn't exactly "taught" by the LSE, but rather is developed by the LSE. From what I understand it is independent learning, thus the low price. The Masters degrees at the University of London are taught courses and as such, have a significantly higher price tag. Too bad LSE does not offer masters degrees via distance learning. There are some post-graduate economics offerings at Centre for Financial and Management Studies (CeFiMS).
