And from my perspective as someone who teaches/has taught teacher credential courses, they usually don't cut it here either. But, yes, they do come.

The University of Pheonix may be the easiest place to attain a doctorate (Least amount of Rigor)

    I could be wrong though.

The Professional Doctorate is roughly the same as the US PHD, although it is intended more for use in business than in academia. The word limit for some Professional Doctorates now is in the vicinity of 80,000 words because of the criticism from PHD's. The word limit is nonsense of course. The test should be the consideration of the topic and the exhaustion of the relevant discussion.
I think the Professional Doctorate may actually extinguish the traditional Australian PHD over time.

I am doing my Doctorate by way of Publication. The bulk of the Doctorate is made up of articles that I have had published. The remainder is the connecting document which synthesises articles into a thematic discussion of the topic.

I thought that this way may have been the easiest. I was wrong. Every article has to undergo a peer review by the particular journal. I have had five articles published and have effectively ten examiners so far. Two reviewers for each article. I still have to face the examiners for the dissertation! I may have been better with the one set of examiners.
