An interesting thing about Penn's evening program, as compared to Harvard's extension school, is that they seem to award a regular degree to adult continuing education students (and at very reduced prices). Sadly, they don't offer it at a distance, having few online courses. Link Tony Hopefully, although I am not holding my breath, Penn will expand their distance offerings. P.S. It seems that they might offer an engineering Masters program from a distance, but they link is currently broken.
I recall some discussion on this site on extension degrees, maybe even a doctorate, offered by Columbia.

It's a university. In New York City. http://www.rockefeller.edu/about.php Despite not being ivy league, it muddles along somehow. No undergraduates. 151 doctoral students and 41 students simultaneously earning Ph.D.s and M.D.s. Plus 255 scientists in 74 laboratories, 355 postdocs and a thousand support staff. 23 Nobel Laureates have been associated with Rockefeller at one time or another. Too bad that it's not ivy league. If it were, it might amount to something.
Pretty impressive. The Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN is another example of a graduate-specialty school that's very small, offering degrees in only a few fields--of course, all medical--yet rated among the very best educations in the world, should you happen to be pursuing studies in medicine and other related fields. Perhaps something like Rockefeller. Not wanting to sound too prying--but of course, it's an occupational hazard--but in what area of the law do you practice?
Penn is also the home of top ten law school with tuition in the 30k range. _______________________________________ And home of arguably the best B-school in the world: Wharton.
