    Howdy folks!

I just wanted to share that tonight I was offered a full-time post as an Assistant Professor of History & Political Science at the community college where I've been an adjunct for three years. Both of my graduate degrees were earned via distance, an MS from Walden University and an MA from WNMU. I fully disclosed this fact during the interview, and stated how I appreciated being able to continue my education, despite living in a rural area without a major university nearby. I explained how participating in such programs exposed me to new teaching and learning methods, and how I believed that could be useful to the college. The panel actually offered positive comments regarding my education, and never once was anything negative said about the fact that I earned my degrees via distance. I think that's a win for not only me, but for DL in general.

Clearly I'm looking forward to this new adventure! Thanks to all of you who have helped me on my way!

I asked about this in the interview. They informed me that they had a generous tuition reimbursement program. That's music to my ears! I think I might take some time to "settle in" though.

Congratulations, buddy. That's amazing news! I'm new, but I've been following all of your posts about WNMU, and considering CC teaching as an option if I choose that route. Really great to know that it worked out so well for you.

Sure thing. No reason to hide it ;-)

I currently live in Lancaster, but my wife and I just purchased a home in Northumberland which is the next county over. I'll be working at Rappahannock Community College in the Warsaw Campus. My new home is only a 15 minute drive to the campus, which is perfect.
