https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/27/arts/don-imus-dead.amp.html I never liked his show, his voice, nor his personality. However, I do think he was often wrongly taken as worse than he really was and I admired him for his low-key but prolific charitable work and philanthropy. RIP.
I loved his show, especially the interviews he did with prominent figures. Occasionally, he'd say something that would make me cringe. I never rationalized any of that; I just weighed it with all the rest. For example, he could be a great guy, but the comment that got him booted was uncalled for and cannot be explained away. Fortunately, he never tried to do that and took his lumps instead. Whether you could tolerate those mistakes and still enjoy him was, of course, a personal choice.
Texas. He lived in Brenham. He died in nearby College Station. The Imus Ranch was in New Mexico, though. It was sold in 2017.
