With the MOOC's availabilities, there is the lady who did the NoPayMBA by completing MOOC business courses align to the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School's Master of Business Administration (MBA) curriculum. She even wrote a book about it and show people how to list them in the resume. Although the knowledge gaining from these courses are awesome; it will come to at least two issues.

    1) Will you be qualified to an MBA equivalence in job market competition?
    2) Will the prospective employers take it seriously since there is no actual awarding degree diploma?

I know that the Business world and the Tech world are not necessarily the same world but in the world of Tech there's at least some evidence to support the idea that skills are more important than degrees.

This has been true for a long time. In the '90s, a lot of people, including me, earned Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer because it paid like a Bachelor's degree but was an awful lot faster to get.

Also Scott Young! He did a full MOOC MIT Computer Science degree. Wrote a book about it, speaks about it - or at least he did. He documented the whole thing on youtube - MIT Challenge

Took him 12 months. I love this kind of story and enthusiasm. It asks the question "what's more important when you assess me - is it my skillset from the top CS program or is it the prestige my resume brings your company?"
