    All,

I'm looking to apply to either the A.T. Still University or Nova Southeastern University DHSc programs. They are similar programs but seems there is a little different in that A.T. Still has an Applied Research Project and Nova Southeastern has an internship, practicum and doctoral analysis.

Does anyone have any experiences with either or personally no anyone that is in either program or graduated from either?

As always, appreciate any feedback from the team.

    Ditto

    Dono,

I would be curious to see if anyone responds--I've been looking into these programs as well as Valdosta's DPA and Walden's Health Sc program.

    Hi,
I am in my second year at ATSU DHSc program. I had found the program to be stimulating, challenging and for the most part professors well qualified. However, the DHSc program has moved to the the College of Graduate Health Care Studies and there are a "head spinning" number of changes going on and unfortunately a noticeable change in attitude towards students. Here are some of the changes.
    - the quarter went from 12 weeks to 10 weeks with no change in assignment requirements just 12 weeks of work packed into 10.
-tuition was increased, even though class time was decreased and a library charge was added for each quarter.
-there has been a onslaught on changes in ATSU personnel including the Program Chair, student counselors etc.
    -grading was changed
    - discussion board workload was doubled without notice (with no time to adjust your schedule to accommodate the workload increase)

Previous to these changes, the DHSc program ran smoothly and students were very happy with the program. However, the abruptness of changes and the multitude of changes has made most students very wary. There now is little respect for student feedback. The changes are never announced or explained prior to the change and explanations seem to be given grudgingly. For example. A "town hall meeting" was announced to "explain" the changes that were already in place with only 2 days notice and it was scheduled for the Friday night of a major Jewish holiday. When students complained of the short notice they were assured a video of the town hall would be made available...it was not and no explanation was given as to why it was not available. Later a powerpoint was posted but it said little. Basically students now have no voice.

I would suggest you look at the Nova DHSc program. Many of our professors have graduated from Nova. I also understand Temple has a program. I would not recommend attending the DHSc program at ATSU until the turmoil ends and the dust settles because what you are promised today is not what you may get tomorrow!

    DHSc Student,

Did you finish the program with ATSU? I started at the end of 2014 and I've been very satisfied so far...I'm projected to graduate in the Summer of 2018. At times the classes can be intense especially when you have to take two at the same time but I've had great instructors and felt the Winter Institute (1 week residency) was pretty awesome. I'm curious to see how the ARP classes will go as I start those next January.

It has been a while since I posted but if anyone has any ATSU DHSc questions let me know.

Go to A.T. Sill. Then you can start your very own fake school in the Caribbean.

    Rich,

I'll keep that in mind...understand some people are just plain ignorant especially with the experience you had that DHSc grad. Hopefully the actions of others will not paint a picture that every DHSc grad is...:lame:

Naw, just being snarky about the one. It shouldn't reflect on the school one little bit.
