    The law doesn't acknowledge anything.

What exactly does the law do, if it doesn't acknowledge the way things ought to be (or, rather, should I say, legislators' opinions of the way things ought to be)?

In this case it adheres to traditional norms.

Thanks for complementing my "real man gazongas"--they've produced five offspring, you know. :D ;) :p

You really want to change that "complementing" to "complimenting." Unless Ted is the milkman, that is.

I could never accuse my wife of doing the milkman thing. For one, they don't even deliver milk here--haven't for 50 years--and for another, every last one of those kids have my wavy dirty blonde hair and that funny gap between my big toe and the second toe. Now, if Ted has the wavy hair and the gap thing going, I may have to electronically sock him one! :D

Oh, and you got me on a mispeling. Not to many peeple do that, you know. Congratulatuns!

    All meant in good humor.

But of course! I've zinged a few misspellers myself. He that lives by the sword shall die by it, and since I've done it myself, I am certainly fair game. No offense taken.

At least now I know the correct spelling of "complementing" er, "complimenting", I mean.

    :)

Oddly, our Good Humor man hadn't much humor. His demeanor was much like the transit cops who had to put up with us at an older age.

Does anyone know how it came about that milkmen, more so than guys of any other occupation, have developed the reputation for siring children that sit around other men's fires?

What's the difference between adhering to traditional norms and acknowledging the way things ought to be?

You mean what I thought was good humor was just a bad pun by the Tedmeister?

No it was a good pun--very good.

    But you're a bad boy--very bad.

Since milkmen and ice cream men are both kinds of dairy men, are their reputations similar?

No, the ice cream men can't come to the door. You could say that they get the cold shoulder.
