Does anyone know where to get a list of US-recognized credential evaluation agencies and information about them?

    Thanks for your time.

What does "US-recognized" mean? This organization recognizes credential evaluation services that are used by colleges and universities in the U.S.: NACES

I thought there could be "evaluation mills" or something like that... but thank you for your response. Do you know if a degree evaluated by NACES is of the same value like a RA-degree?

A NACES Evaluation will state that your foreign credentials are or are not equivalent to a US RA and/or US Nationally recognized degree. It's still up to the person you are presenting your degree and evaluation to to accept it as such. All credential evaluators are private organizations, sometimes just one person, and there is no government oversight in this field. A NACES member evaluation is probably the strongest evaluation you can get in terms of respectability, but there are other fine evaluators out there who are not and will never be a NACES member.

    There certainly are.

    No, it isn't.

Virtually everyone will accept a RA degree.

Virtually everyone will recognize a GAAP (Generally Accepted Accreditation Principles) foreign degree. But how they want it evaluated will vary a lot depending on who they are. If you have a foreign Bachelor's and want to pursue a Master's from Excelsior College, you must have your Bachelor's evaluated by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.; they will not accept other NACES members. If you have a foreign Bachelor's and want to teach in a California public school, you must choose an evaluator from this list: http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentialinfo/leaflets/cl635.pdf. Some organizations will do their own internal evaluation. And so on.
