One of my favorites in my data base is:

Accademia Universale de Governo Cosmo-Astrosofica-Libero de Psico-Biofisica

    the pride of Trieste.

I enjoy thinking about their school cheers. "Give me an A. Give me a C. Give me another C..." They'd have to do this early in the game, of course.

Clearly I haven't been keeping up with the Nunavutian news.
    Good for them.

The reason I knew this is that at one point I was thinking that since the Canadian equivalent to regional accreditation is provincial approval, perhaps the easiest equivalent to secure might be the approval of Yukon, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut.

Personally, I think that the cities of Hell, Michigan, and Paradise, Washington, both ought to open up their very own world-famous namesake universities. Can you see the discussions amongst high school seniors: "And where are you going to study at?"

John: This is exactly what George Korey did with his Northwest Open University, with a convenience address in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, which in turn was used to provide "credibility" for Korey's Canadian School of Management.

Fascinating. Sometimes it seems there truly is nothing new under the sun. I take it from your placement of the word "credibility" in quotes that it wasn't legitimate. Given that, did he actually get the territorial legislature and/or education ministry to approve his operation?

John: I don't think so. Around that time, I met someone from the Yukon education office at a convention. He said he had lived in Whitehorse all his life, and had never heard of its university (whose real office was, apparently, adjoining the Canadian School of Management in Toronto). Korey, who will figure prominently in my posthumous edition, at one time operated five or six universities, with addresses in Canada and New Zealand, including Korey International University. I was surprised when Canadian School of Management got DETC accreditation, not surprised when they lost it. (They got it back, in a manner of speaking, when they were acquired by another DETC-accredited school.)

I can imagine it now: Saint Regis University Bologna Consortial Studies Program.

Absolutely true. But consorting with baloney never sounded so good.

    (Is Bologna near Seborga?)

When I was in college in Oregon, we occasionally would drive up to Humptulips, Washington, just to mail letters to people with that postmark.

The field is wide open for someone to start a University of Humptulips. Are ya still listening, Dixie?

PS: Humptulips is not all that far from Dosewallips. What a rivalry that could be, when the University of Humptulips plays Dosewallips College in the Geoduck Bowl.
