Hi guys, anyone care to give their input or comparison on university of memphis vs. university of Nebraska online mba? How do they compare in terms of brand recognition and quality of program? Thanks in advance!
Personally I'd lean toward Nebraska, but neither is really well known for their MBA program. For example, they're both considered "unranked" by U.S. News.
I'd lean toward Memphis because on alumni weekend I could go to Graceland. :You_Rock_Emoticon: Seriously though, what do you, yourself imagine the difference to be? Where do you live? Might there be a geographic advantage? Is there a specialization difference? How did you narrow it down to these two choices?
I chime in with Nebraska. As much as some may not like it, schools with notable sports programs are generally more recognizable by everyone, even those who cannot spell MBA. If you are not going for the Top Ranked MBA then go with the best name. Also, Go Spurs Go!
Hi, I am currently a vice principal of a large high school. I am hoping to move into upper management at a school board someday and believe an MBA will be beneficial. No real geographic advantage, I live in Nova Scotia Canada. I narrowed it down to these two because I would not have to do any prerequisite upgrades and they have a decent price point. I have undergraduate degrees in physics and math, education and a masters in education. Both seem to have program delivery methods that meet my needs as well.
Where in Nova Scotia? My grandmother was raised in Mulgrave, and my mom and I drove around Nova Scotia when I was fifteen just to see the province.
I am not an educator but I get the sense that an MBA is probably not the right credential. An EdD would be probably most appropriate in your circumstance since you want to stay in Primary/Secondary Education. Don't get me wrong, MBAs can be great. I have made do with an MPA springing from the Public Sector to the Software Industry without any concerns or issues. Simply having a "management" degree has been enough. But your industry seems to be rather insular. An EdS or EdD would probably give you more bang for your buck (or loonie).
