"Don Lemon announced Monday that he's been "terminated" by CNN. The embattled anchor, who joined the network in 2006, faced scrutiny over his alleged sexist behavior, surviving numerous on-air blunders during his tenure, like in February when he declared Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley "isn't in her prime" at age 51. "I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN," he shared on social media just hours after appearing on-air Monday morning as usual. "I am stunned."" https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/don-lemon-says-hes-been-fired-by-cnn-165304469.html
Well, he certainly wasn't fired for being wrong about everything. That was what he was hired to do, and he was great at it.
I like Don Lemon. I didn't watch him in his morning job but I enjoyed his evening show. I think he does a great job. Maybe NewsNation will hire him like they did Cuomo?
FOX also made a change. Tucker Carlson's six-year run as the host of his own prime-time show at Fox News is over, the network announced Monday. A lawsuit against the network stemming from Voting Systems defamation case appears to have been a central factor in the split.
Carlson isn't gone because of lies. He isn't gone because of intemperate comments about management. He isn't gone because he's a bad guy. He's gone because of money. Fox gets rid of people who will cost them money. Carlson has already done that. Fox dumped him because of upcoming legal actions. Fox can't be seen as not (again) acting to deal with the problem. With Abby Grossberg and Smartmatic going to court, Fox had no choice but to cut him loose, just as they did with Bill O'Reilly and Roger Ailes. In this case, it was pre-emptive instead of part of a settlement, but out he must go. Tucker does his show from his home in rural Maine. He might want to stay there.
Don Lemon and Tucker Carlson are hiring the same powerhouse lawyer — who's helped TV hosts secure multimillion-dollar payouts from their old networks. Bryan Freedman is known as the go-to lawyer for multimillion-dollar payouts in messy media breakups. He's worked for former TV hosts at ABC, NBC, and CNN, and a long list of celebrities.
