Sorry to dredge up an older thread but I wanted to weigh in on why I’m considering a MS in Psychology from CCU after I finish my BS from Excelsior in a few months. Two big factors in my decision are cost (since I’m paying for school myself out of pocket and do not want to take out loans) and time to complete the program. Time is important to me because in my current job I have quite a bit of time to complete school work while I sit on planes everyday. From my research I’ve seen that a CCU degree can be completed in less than a year if you work hard as the courses are self-paced. I work in Federal Law Enforcement where a DETC degree works just fine. I want to get a Masters degree as quickly as possible because I’m looking to transfer jobs within Federal Law Enforcement to a specific location and that can be very competitive.

After I finish the MS from CCU I plan on either getting another Masters from an RA school (when time is not such as factor) or going for a PhD from NCU where 30 credits from my CCU degree will transfer over. NCU offers a Law Enforcement discount of $315 a credit hour for graduate work. This second degree will be for the purpose of Adjunct teaching online part time. If I decide against NCU I’m leaning towards WNMU where I can get 18 hours in a couple of different subjects at a very cheap price.

If someone can show me an RA school where I can finish a Masters in Psychology or CJ in less than a year at a similar price then I would seriously consider it.

I did just as you're planning - my B.S. in CJ from EC and my M.S. in Psychology from CCU. It can be done!

I am current CCU student and have found its programs to be run very efficiently. You can set your own pace but would have to meet the nine-month minimum enrollment requirement for graduation. While my experience with CCU is at the undergraduate level, my understanding is that the graduate level courses follow the same general format.

    FAM?
