Cannabis school receives accreditation

I note that this accreditation is only at Elementary and Secondary levels - not College or University. From the article:
"(The school) received its accredited status from the Middle States Association’s Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools."

Marijuana culture programs get full Ministry validation here, as do all other programs of a Community College. My alma mater, Niagara College, teaches the full slate of marijuana culture, as a graduate program.... Hey. I qualify! It's here:

Located in a wine-growing area, the school also has full programs in viticulture and wine-making. Beer brewing as well, with an on-site Craft brewery. I went to night school at Niagara for about 6 years. Got me a Diploma. Fun - and seriously good school.

I gave up marijuana in 1978 - because I thought it might lead me back to cigarette smoking. (I'm serious.) But I fully support its being there for those who derive fun, benefit or both from it.

 

Despite its name, it accredits up to the post-secondary non-degree level!

I heard that each member of the accreditation committee was given a very ample supply cannabis cookies.

 

I'm thinking maybe some of them brought their own bongs. It was probably a long meeting.

Just to dab a bone in here, there are publicly-funded colleges here in Canada which have Cannabis programs. They tend to be a mix of legal and scientific coursework (like time on HPLC equipment, etc.)

I keep being told by random people "Housecat, you should go into weed, you'll make a ton of money, just don't expect to go to the states again..." and so forth.

I dunno, maybe yes, maybe no. I have completed the prerequisite chem and bio courses and have a ton of "Canada does weed" jokes, so I have both qualifications.

Cannabis was legalized in Illinois (where I live) in January 2020, and despite some criticism of the tax burden and some worries about equity with respect to enterprise, it has been quite a success overall.

 

A poster on the sister board reported in 2022 that when she inquired with Excelsior College about a different program, Excelsior "kept trying to push" their Cannabis Control certificate (which she had no interest in).

 

No, damn it, cannibus is NOT LEGAL in ANY state or territory of the United States. You might think that the federal prohibition does not matter but it does. Oh, it matters alright.

All you'd need as a "state licensed" cultivater, processer, wholesaler, or retailer is for some federal agency to decide to actually follow the law. As it is, the income tax code does not allow business deductions for expenses of a criminal enterprise. The banking system cannot provide services to a criminal enterprise for fear of being charged with money laundering. Finally, taxes paid or not, the profits are the fruit of a criminal enterprise and subject to forfeiture.

States are ignoring the Supremacy Clause just as much as Governor Stupid does with his antics. Either Congress needs to fix this or the States need to quit encouraging criminal behavior. I don't care which.

 

Fine, then. It just needs to get done.
