    I have the same thing!
It's so weird when it happens because the dreams feel so realistic that when I wake up it keeps me thinking the entire day.

My grandmother died 12 years ago from lung cancer at age 58 and sometimes I have dreams about activities that we did when I was a child, that feel so weird because I'm thrown back in time but as my adult self.
These dreams also trigger my senses because there is smell, there is colorfulness, there is noise in them.
When I wake up it's as if I really went back.
The subconsious mind is so fascinating. We think we know a lot about neurology but we barely scratched the surface.

The weirdest dreams are those dreams about activities or events that took place decades ago, yet are so vivid that it's as if it happened yesterday.

Goes to show how volatile and meaningless time is.
1 trigger can teleport you back a lifetime.

For me there is a pattern: there needs to be a trigger. They never occur out of nothingness.

Yesterday we talked about life insurances at work and last night I dreamt that I was walking behind my grandmother's casket.
I could see the pallbearers descending the casket into the grave, I could see a hearse.
What I found most remarkable is how I could loudly and clearly hear the church bells ringing.
My mother's brother his thumb stone was very visible as well. I could see details like the color, the ornaments etc.
I could see the people who were present, the clothes they were wearing, the speeches that were held, the music that was played.
When I woke up and analyzed the dream I had to conclude that it corresponds to how it really went.
Her best girl friend gave me a handshake that day and the facial expression she made was the exact same as in my dream.
I remember who wore which clothes and shoes.
It played all through my head again.

Other times I dream that the chemo and radiation made her go into remission and that 5-6 years later she is still alive (in reality she only lived 1 year with it).

I dream about my mother's brother. He died under suspect circumstances 16 years ago.
In my dreams I see him back as an adult and it turns out he was in another universe for 16 years and he resumes his life. All of us got 16 years older, while he stayed 35.

It feels very strange and sometimes very confronting.

I had an emotional day today because of it because it hit me how fresh it still feels, yet how long it has been.
15 or 20 years is nothing. It seems like an eternity, but once they passed by it feels like it was yesterday.

I believe we don't need a new machine to time travel.
Our mind is a sophisticated machine that can already accomplish as much.

This reminds me of a text from Heraclitus ( Pantha rei) I read some 10 years ago during my Ancient-Greek classes:
"One can never step into the same river twice because just like one will not be the same person, the river will not be the same".

We are continuously evolving, the world is continuously evolving, and we can only relive the past through the person that we are today, not through the person that we used to be because that person no longer is.

Yes, Heraclitus is widely quoted. Good work lasts.

I had a really beautiful experience. not long ago. I re-lived a moment in the late 70s, when I got the sweetest goodnight kiss ever, in my life. I woke up and my mouth was tingling. It was that real.

A year ago I dreamt about a handsome guy who I had a group work with in my 2nd year in colleague.
The strange thing is that I had a love-hate relationship with that guy.
We were friends but consistently teased each other.
The human mind, we'll never fully understand it.
    Odi et amo.
Now back to time travel in the real sense of the word :D
