Does Technical Writing satisfies TESC ENC-102 English Composition II? I have an English Comp & Rhetoric I from a Cc, they didn't allow it as English Comp I.

No it won't suffice. You need to have a class that states "Composition I," and "Composition II." Technical Writing is totally different in course content and structure.

I agree with potpourri. These are two different animals completely.

Sometimes departments will make allowances, particularly if you are close to graduating. Did you ask TESC directly?

When I was an undergrad, I changed majors at least 5 times. I've already taken plenty of classes, but was missing some required classes for my major. My undergrad advisor allowed some pretty liberal substitutions to get my butt out the door.

As you have stated certain courses can be substituted for required courses if they fall within the same scope as the required courses e.g., an American Federal Government course may be a requirement, but if a student has taken a course related such as Constitutional Law, this can be waived for the American Federal Government course, as the Constitution was used, and in it states that there is a separation of powers that being Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.

In the case of this student wanting to substitute a Technical Writing course for satisfaction of "Composition II," in my view it wouldn't work as it doesn't relate to the fragments of what would need to be satisfied. The student in "Composition I," and "Composition II," would need to show competency in effective argument, writing, and critical thinking with regards to literature and overall comprehension.

It would be the same when it comes to Math and Science. A student couldn't use a class such as how to survive, or a general course in subject, but would rather have to show competency whether it would be in algebra and trigonometry or other areas that would require a higher level of mastery.
