California is odd

    The geography is great. The problem with California is the people who live here. (I'm one of them.) I'm actually one of the handful who were born here and didn't move from someplace else hoping to live out fantasy-land expectations. Originally it was the gold rush, then it was Hollywood, then it was the surfers, the hippies, the gays, now it's getting rich in "tech" (actually e-business that has less and less to do with science and engineering every passing day).

    As far as not joining some nationwide state approval reciprocity agreement goes, I'm not really sure why one is necessary. I've never had any hesitation about enrolling in out-of-state DL programs, even if they aren't approved by the BPPE to offer classes to California residents. In fact I was never aware they needed to be and I'm still not convinced they are.

    Bottom line, I don't think it matters a whole lot, certainly not from the student's-eye view.
