Hey Bill, I finally looked at your photo. You DO look like I pictured you. That's a great tie, too. Mine are all black. Again, we are all just gut-busting proud of you. Well done, my friend, well done.

Yeah, I thought I might ruffle a feather there (not that yours were so ruffled). I just can't recall having any theological conversations with Dr. Bill, so I didn't know where he might be coming from. I assumed that the sem was conservative, just by looking at the CVs and even the appearances of the profs. They just looked kind of conservative in a non-agressive way.

OTS will no longer exist as I understand it. We will be Faith Seminary, Salem and will be connected with Faith Seminary, Tacoma.

Yes, the seminary is conservative in doctrine and is also premillennial. However, the student is not required to sign agreement with any statement of faith. As you say ,some faculty members have PhDs from Dallas Seminary. President House , himself, is a former Dallas professor.

BTW, another feature of the school is that the MDiv is heavy into the original languages requiring 48 q hrs of Greek and Hebrew grammar, reading , and exegesis.

Thanks to all for the congrats. The people of this Board have been very kind to me.

I do feel very blessed. I also feel humility, as you perceptively suggest Gregg, because I am now given the chance to do what I should probably have done 30 years ago.

Realizing such a mistake, that for 35 years IMO I was not doing what I really should have been doing, is humbling. These good men of the faculty with whom I join have for their lives done what I just now begin to do.

As you say, there is also awe- that God so handily brought this about.

I feel that now ,at last, I am doing what I should do, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to do that.

    Bill,

Indeed, you are to be commended for your accomplishments. Not merely for the academic journey, but to have persued your doctorate after turning sixty. Not that sixty is ancient of days, but most are ready to retire by that time. Your journey has been an inspiration to us all. God's best in your seminary position.

Is that available online? If I were to dive in to such an endeavor after finishing this confounded UMass MBA, would you be a professor of mine?

Also, what if I just wanted to take a class or two in Hebrew or Koine Greek? Could I do that?

You know, I'll bet a rather long-in-the-tooth Moishe in the desert, talking to the One from the burning bush, felt much the same way.

And yet, his life was only about to begin. G-d can give back the years that the moths destroyed.

    Bill,

I could not be happier to hear your great news Professor Grover. My interactions with you and my observations of your posting here on Degreeinfo have shown you to be a dedicated scholar and a very fair, balanced (and quite nice) individual. Although we come from different faith backgrounds, you have demonstrated a respect and understanding that is highly unusual (I mean that in the best possible way). I am confident that your future students will derive great benefit from both your lifelong learning and your keen insight.

Your new position as director of distance learning is very intriguing to me. Since I have a similar position, I would be interested in keeping in touch and comparing notes on how Faith is doing DL from a technical standpoint (e.g. course management systems, online instructional design, training and staff development, etc.)

My most sincere congratulations, my friend, and may God bless you efforts.

    Congratulations!!

Maybe it wasn't a mistake. By accomplishing what you have you may motivate other senior citizens to accomplish their goals, too.

    Wouldn't that be wonderful!

One of my very active investment partners in his 70s told me:

He pointed out people like Bill Gates, H. Wayne Huizenga and many others that could have retired years ago but still work.

Taught me to love what I do or do something else. That is exactly what I did!

    Just my opinion

Single courses may be taken without the intent to complete a degree. At this time I am in the process of putting our video taped classroom lectures onto DVDs. We hope to soon have all of our MDiv courses on DVDs including the languages. There are on the faculty much better Hebrew/Greek profs than I . My only area of any expertise, even there much limited, is Systematic Theology.
