Ok...now for some fun! Being a member of this lovely forum, I noticed that many of our members have very creative and humurous Member/User Id names. Who do you find has the most original and/or most funny user name? Personally, I like "oxpecker" and "uncle janko"
I must say I like Veteran 101. Veteran 101st Airborne and proud. When I first came on the board you would not believe the lefties and military hating lib's that threw fire bombs at me. I don't see many of them anymore, then again maybe they are lying low and regrouping like the Taliban Same thing, different cloth
Re: I must say V101 - Thanks for your service to America. I've reviewed your early postings and have found no "fire bombs," not to mention "lefties" and "military hating lib's." Would you please point out where this occurred? Jack
It isn't catchy, unique or novel but I like "North." It just connotates finality, firmness, strength, and comes across as "no nonsense."
The best moniker was "DL Scholar." A hilarious series of posts. And of course, "factwatcher" was unforgettable.
Dr. Gina starting a new thread that is not a poll? My concept of reality has been shaken to it's very core. I must vote for myself, Bill Huffman. People seem to feel more comfortable on this forum if they believe that they know your real name so I use Bill Huffman instead of my real name, Uncle John Oxpecker Doe.
DLK Hardly, The right wing nuts are busy planning the demise of the Teletubbies! According to Jerry Falwell they are sending subliminal messages to our children!! Besides I thought the Nazis were hiding in Quebec C'mon, have some humor, by the way Im Libertarian. V101 - Thanks for your service to America. I've reviewed your early postings and have found no "fire bombs," not to mention "lefties" and "military hating lib's." Would you please point out where this occurred? Jack Jack, Let me clarify. The message came from "one" member via an email to me. I was looking for information, or should I say insight from DL individuals on a school that turned out to be a mill. ( I was uneducated regarding RA, DETC, and Mill language ) Received a mealy mouthed email about my request and ID. Guess the idiot thought I was a board troll. Anyway, I got a kick out of it and thought just another NYC hiney All in all, this site has been a pure benefit from my standpoint. The majority of individual here have been nothing but helpful. Thanks to degree.net I did not send money to a mill and earned a RA degree from American InterContinental University. If it was not for the folks here and Dr. Bear I would have been out many $$$ for nothing. Take Care
Re: DLK Hi, I used to be a Libertarian. It's too bad there aren't any more "Ed Clark's" in the Party. I stopped being a Libertarian after meeting and hearing Ron Paul at Hillsadale College, Hillsdale, MI in 1988. He kept flip-flopping on the issues. I asked him his opinion on the death penalty. He then, in turn, in a pseudo-Socratic method, asked me my opinion. Then he agreed with me. I saw him do this with other questioners. Also, I thought he was more of a gadfly than a serious candidate. He left the Party, flirted for a few months with a Constitution Party then went back to the GOP. I also am saddened by the children's rights plank that seems to want to give children the same rights as adults. Other than a few issues, I agree pretty much with the Party but am 100% GOP now. Good talking to you and thank you for your service to our country. I am sorry your military career came under fire. Many of us who were anti-military in the past owe an apology to our service personnel.
Gert Potgieter? What happened to Gert Potgieter? I never quite understood if Gert was a man or woman. Some posts refered to "he." Gert, him/her self was always maddeningly non gender in reference or inuendo. Being from a place where Gertrude is typically a woman's name, I was a little confused. Of course it may all have been a joke but I was not in on from the start. So, I never "got" it. Anyway, Gert where are you? I miss his or her posts. Gert is a funny and very intelligent...person that I often agreed with. Craig
1. "Gert Potgieter" is a not uncommon South African (male) name. A Google search finds a bunch of them. 2. An oxpecker is a South African bird. 3. Potgieter posted through March 2003. 4. oxpecker started here in January 2003. 5. Gert Potgieter is an anagram of "Ego trip getter." Oxpecker isn't. 6. And therefore, um . . .
Elementry My Dear Dr. Bear! January and March constitute the time frame and window of opportunity in which this "Gert Potgieter" could escape.... which could only mean that an oxpecker is a presumably non-migratory South African bird with no ego! So: if the jury will "bear" with me, perhaps we can demonstrate that the perpetrator is still in the building! All we have to do is lure him out by purposely posting misinformation about a South African University. Clever, Dr. Bear, Clever! And this explains the Gus Sainz mystery post above. How did I miss it? All this because 9 out of 10 "Gerts" in Louisiana are women!
