Aspen's new look

Hmmm, we didn't 'fix' it today so I guess it is just one of those things...

 

I can confirm that it used to say "doctorial" degrees, so it must have been fixed at some point in-between.

I like how the testimonies with the students' pictures have replaced the "live chat" box. One way I think it could be improved is to add some sort of background to the Header.jpg file, behind the logo I mean. Someone above suggested mountains or something, that could work.

 

No offense, but I think my website looks better than Aspen University's new site.

Just my 2 cents:

What I like
*The fact that the format (links and all) is user-friendly; it's very functional
*The inclusion of the testimonial section

What I suggest
*Remove the entire text in the middle of the homepage and embed it as a new link called "History" under the main header "About Apen University"
*Replace the text mentioned above with news items/goings on at Aspen University
*Spruce up the site with pictures or graphics

What I don't like
*The brown/tan background -- ugly color that highlights the fact that the site looks dull and bland

 

I find the design ok, not superb but functional. Come on Aspen isn't a web design house . Anyway their new Moodle is certainly miles ahead of the previous LMS. I just started using it in the latest module. The basic functions are there but they can certainly make use of Moodle's extensive functions to make DL more interactive and personal.

 

Hurrah to all DETC schools and to Aspen inparticular.

They've offered them quite awhile... By the way, what is a DETC Doctorate in Education for? What does it do? I've never figured it out. Somebody please tell me what utility it provides. Thanks...

 

At one time someone was working on a study to see what states accepted DETC credentials for increased teacher career pay. I know there are few states that do accept NA degrees. South Dakota is one if I recall.

 

Utility:

It gives one a title.

Respect.

Credibility. ie: Guest speaker Dr. John Doe or Author John Doe, Ed.D.

A feather in the cap.

A sheepskin.

If they are lucky, a pay raise.

or a promotion for starters.

 

Website looks much better!

Wow! I think the website looks much better. The pictures bring life to the school and losing the coat of arms and replacing it with AU is nice! I sincerely "mean" it!

 

Another suggestion

Perhaps on the About page you can post the address or City and State the school is located in. This instills confidence to the beholder that their is a real location to the school and not a cyberspace location.

 

I like the old version with the coat of arms, just hoping that it is bigger as there are too many details to display. The address is there on the contact page. Maybe adding a Google Map will make it looks nicer.

It requires quite a lot of self motivation. When you start a module and look at the list of assignments, it can be quite demoralizing especially after 2 or 3 modules. Mine is independent study, so really not much contact with the supervisors. When I first started I was thinking I could finish in the minimum 2 years, now I am not that sure......

 

Should have more graphics, can use stock photos like other institutions. Another thing is that I would suggest to take off the Joombla icon.
