Some state schools, not seemingly in Texas however. I checked locally to see about getting an MBA in a classroom or online from a school in my area and the sticker shock made me dizzy...

    They were:
    TCU - private
University of Texas at Dallas -state
    Dallas Baptist University -private
University of Texas at Arlington -state
    North Texas -state
Texas A&M Commerce - wasn't a bad deal actually, I gave them some strong consideration...

So not all state schools are necassarily a bargain. That being said the quality (and/or reputation deserved or not) of all state schools is not going to be the same either, I'd trade my Ashford MBA for a McCombs School of Business MBA from the University of Texas at Austin all things being equal. What I would not trade however are the 2 years of additional management experience I earned while working on my MBA, plus take on the additional debt and hardship on my marriage that quitting work and going to school full time would have cost (I couldn't do evening classes due to work schedule). As it stands things are very rarely "all things equal".

As for JCBMack...I'm glad you like Ashford, I did too. To a point however the only argument here is the one you're stirring up fella'. All these guys are asking you to do is to qualify your matter of fact statements with reliable evidence supporting your claim. Kind of like writing a good research paper, find and cite your sources to back up your argument. A discussion on degreeinfo usually takes some critical thinking, I find this board has its own unique culture

Opinions are always welcome, as are facts. Knowing the difference between the two can be most important. Degreeinfo thanks you for the compliment.

yep, the MBA is usually the degree that has the higher tuition rate among programs. Best of luck with your studies.

You are exactly right. The trade-offs are what we all have to consider in making our personal choices.
