I've been looking at programs in Project Management and CSU looks like a good choice for a non-RA school. It has articulation agreements with RA schools, it is very flexible and has some good non-RA credentials. The price seems reasonable as well. It's acceptance (and I may be mistaken) seems to to fairly good in the business arena. I was wondering, has anyone graduated or taken classes from CSU? Thanks!
love the quick wit Steve. Could you provide some useful information that I cannot. Yes I graduated from CSU with an MBA-PM. When I went, the program was very inexpensive and I used it mostly for continuing education. In fact, I completed the entire program for less than continuing education offered by nonacademic entities. The MBA was a nice bonus. As their costs have risen I believe there are other options with more utility from RA schools. I have not had any issue with the acceptance other than it will not qualify you for teaching due to the DETC accreditation. The articulation agreements it has established serve CSU well. I have posted without exception regarding this topic. I believe first hand knowledge is more informed regarding any specific school. The search function is messed up on this site but you can either google: site: degreeinfo xxxxx or you may be able to search using my user name. PM me if you have a specific question but I think I have posted a good bit of relevant information previously if you can find it. Kevin
CSU's curriculum seems comparable to RA and AACSB schools. Plus the flexibility in developing the General Business concentration in the MBA program is quite appealing. Their staff seems knowledgable enough.
I don't know that there has been any informed criticism about CSU's program content discussed on this board. The main criticisms were that (a) CSU claime--up until the day they were accredited by DET--accreditation from a bogus agency and (b) that DETC ignored this fact when accrediting CSU. As we know, claiming fake accreditation does nothing but serve to fool people. However, one wonders when the statute of limitations expires on that subject. It seems well past that time and, again, I don't know if anyone has anything substantively negative to say about CSU's programs. They don't offer an unaccredited DBA without a dissertation, do they?
I agree with Rich completely. Claiming a bogus accreditation is not good. But then, when you are accredited by an agency that is legitimate, does that atone for the prior sin? This is an issue that has faced RA schools as well. I'd much rather do "business" with a school that has recognized its need for legit accreditation. If the accrediting body has seen fit to forgive, so should I. But it's hard to forget about the bogus accreditation claims. Is it less of a sin to claim no accreditation and be honest about it, and eventually earning a legit accreditation, than to claim bogus accreditation and then earn legit accreditation?
Columbia Southern University I recieved my Masters and two certifications from CSU. In my opinion it's a good school. TomC. B.S. Education M.S. Criminal Justice Administration Ph.D. Criminal Justice Administration Advanced Degree. Forensic Science Investigations.
I completed an MBA at Columbia Southern University (Oct 2004). My experience with the school was great. The professors would respond to questions within days (often within the same day) via email. And the student services department is quick to reply to queries. Generally, the school is very professional and customer (student) focused. That's my experience, others may disagree though. regards,
