    Re: Re: Same

Good to have you back. I cannot count the numbers of time I have said "Goodbye," only to come back.

Of course you have joined a special club of us who have said the same thing--Levicoff, Bear, Douglas, Hargis, et. al.

By the way, noticed the "Ph.D" in you sig line. Have you now completed your doctoral degree program?

Quinn is cool, but you tagged me pretty well. Uncle and Jack smack me on occasion. They hate to see computers abused. Mine has been acting funny since some guy started winking at it the other day. I hope he was winking at the computer?

Still under review, and that will be DLitt. If all goes well. Right now, my advisor's giving it the eye to see if it's ready to hit external examination. This could take some time.

PhD is ACU '99. People don't like it -- they can roll it up and smoke it.

    To me again:

Yeah -- felt somewhat like that.

I think your ACU Ph.D. degree was more effacacious for you than my Summit Psy. D. was for me. Best of luck on the D. Litt.

Well, I don't know about "effacacious" -- but it's certainly been cantankerous and rambunctious! :D

    What school, Quinn, UNISA?

Nope. I considered UNISA back in 2002, had all my paperwork ready to submit to the local representative, but a little bird threw a spanner into the works back then such that even their very decent prices seemed rather steep. That would have been a D.Litt et Phil, too, I think.

    No -- I don't think "about nothing."

I think the whole DL-scene is tainted with a behavior such that simply ignoring it won't make it go away. Putting such behavior "beneath contempt" and letting it roll off one's back doesn't do justice; the behavior is, after all, contemptible.

I don't think the perptetrators of such contemptible behavior are beyond hope. I think maybe they had no parental oversight as children -- no one to tell them when they'd crossed the line of acceptable human functioning, and they think they can carry that behavior into their adult years with total immunity, all thanks to the Wonders of Anonymity offered by the Internet. And for the most part -- nobody seems to give a rat's behind about the behavior -- even when it insults race, gender, and basic decency.

The Internet, however, is a technology, not a community. The people who use the technology Internet make the communities. And they're real people. If someone were standing outside my window yelling the racist, sexist, vile crud they feel they can yell on the Internet -- they'd soon learn what those boundaries are.

That's just one of the many reasons I'm a fool, I suppose. I happen to think people can rise above their own desperation.

You are certainly no fool Quinn. I find myself thinking those same thoughts quite often. However, just when I think there is no hope for humanity, somebody will prove me wrong.

I am glad you decided to stay,

    Best wishes!

    Abner :)
