As a frequent visitor -- but seldom poster -- I am excited to report I am embarking on a degree program. I have selected the AJU MPA via sponsored tuition. I understand the distinction between national and regional accreditation as I have read John Bear since the early 90's. I will keep this board updated on my progress and experience. I also plan to enroll in the Master of Negotiation & Dispute Resolution at Creighton University in the next year or so. I am currently an executive with a large, publicly traded company, but plan to work for a non-profit organization or with a governmental agency as part of an encore career.

Hey Skidadl! If you are tempted, then join the AJU family! Give me an email at [email protected] and let's talk about what is keeping you from getting started.

As a former AJU faculty member - I will vouch for the school. AJU provides a quality education - and if a DETC degree will work for you, then I would urge you to go for it.

    how many get accepted

I'm new to the board and I told my neighbor about he program. Money is really tight and she is very interested in attending. The question is how many times do you need to apply before you get near the top of the list for the 100 applications per month? Do they hold your tuition request over every month or do you need to re-apply each 30 days?

For many this is a chance of a life time. Would she be able to get into a different school later from an advanced degree that is regionally accredited if she gets a BA from AJU?

    Thanks for the input.
Best to all those who have been able to such a fantastic scholarship.

With absolutely no slight intended at AJU, what does it say about a school that it needs to be "vouched" for? While the quality of the academics may be solid, very solid even -- and certainly the bang-for-the-buck value is tremendous -- an institution that needs to be vouched for means that the utility/marketability of the degrees they confer is compromised/limited. Still, even I'm tempted to sign on, but I'd need to vet the decision a lot more thoroughly.

I'd want someone to vouch for any program, be it from a private, for-profit, NA school, or a state-owned RA school. There are gems and rotten eggs in both places.

    Sr. Modesto,

You may want to tell your friend to contact the school directly for more specific questions, possibly that Mr. Morgan will reply with the same answer to contact the school directly. There was a tread that was devote completely in reference AJU program.

The answer to that question is she may, there is a list that has been going around of friendly transfer schools, she can get the list in the CHEA website and look in the HETA list.

    Hi Terrie!

Have your neighbor contact our Admissions Department ASAP at 1-800-429-9300 (option 1). This is a brand new month, so she should have no problem.

You can also email them at [email protected]

    1. What is your assessment of the AJU MPA program, now that you've completed it?

    2. For the MPA program, do they have proctored exams or do you write papers instead of exams -- or is it both methods of student-evaluation?

    3. Are the exams multiple choice or essay or both?

    4. Their website says that there is a $400 (?) semester fee, in addition to tuition. How many weeks does their semester cover or how many semesters are in a year (for AJU)?

    5. How many transfer credits did they allow you for their MPA program?

    6. Can yo provide any other general opinions that come to your mind?
