    The school has allegedly existed for decades (cannot get the web site to come up). What other name did it go by or has it always had this name?

    It has always had the name. It has existed since 1913. Be advised, there are a couple of other institutions with the same name. I concede, there is not much flash. It is a small school. However, what is there packs a punch! In truth, I was very skeptical at first about the school for the same reasons noted throughout other posts. Yet, the Lord has greatly used ABC in my life. God less ABC.

    Bravo, good friend. I had a grandfather with a fifth-grade education who pastored 3 churches on a country circuit for 45 years. For that matter, how much formal education did William Shakespeare have? Research that little nugget! Better yet, where did Christ attend Seminary? I fully agree. I am pursing for the sole purpose of enrichment by the Holy Spirit. Brother, I have been more than blessed.

    Christ did medical procedures too with no formal training but I sure want my surgeon to have gone to medical school.

    @Garp:

    Agreed -- and if someone from this school can "heal" the website and make it functional ... it wouldn't be a miracle, but some smidgeon of my doubt might be erased. I wouldn't call it restoration of faith because I didn't start out with much.

    As far as Shakespeare's education goes -- his school is still standing and I visited it myself, 56 years ago - King's New School, in Stratford-upon-Avon. To quote the wiki "...the school would have provided an intensive education in grammar based upon Latin classical authors." In my youth, I had the benefit of five years of instruction in Latin myself, so I have some small insight into the type of education he would have received. It was - and still is - an excellent foundation for developing writing skills in English.

    What's your point - that he accomplished a great deal without going to Oxford? So did many people -- although few to the same degree. If you feel (as I do not) that education is of so little importance - especially in Ministry, why, then, are you pursuing it?

    I beg to differ. American Bible College was originally founded by Dr. G.W. Hyatt who founded the American Evangelical Christian Churches in Chicago in 1944. The denomination eventually moved to Pineland, FL and the ABC was founded and operated by the AECC for a number of years until problems in the AECC developed and the denomination was moved to Indianapolis. The school somehow ended up with Dr. Royce and the AECC now operates American Evangelical Christian University.

    I am an alumnus of American Bible College, holding a Bachelor of Theology and Master of Theology from this institution. It is a very interesting school. I had the opportunity of visiting several years ago in person on Pine Island. It is what it is...an unaccredited school offering degrees that do require substantive study and writing. They are not equivalent to accredited degrees...but you get what you pay for. It is not a mere diploma mill. These are earned degrees. They will not impress academics from Harvard...but they are valuable study experiences. They rise above mere Sunday School exercises and occasional continuing education seminars. I hold an accredited Bachelors degree as well as an honorary doctorate from a school in England. I have a non-traditional educational pedigree...but it has prepared me for what I am doing in international leadership training. I do agree that the website is atrocious and does not really communicate what is available from the school. You have to be very motivated to get the full catalog of what is offered.
