Here's my need. I've searched the history but not found any quick answers to this: I need a few more grad-level Accounting classes to be able to teach Accounting. I need RA credits only (DL of course), and would prefer to do them in an academically rigorous environment (in other words I don't want an easy grade, I really want to learn). I have a bias against the flashy for-profit schools but don't want to disregard them out-of-hand. I also don't want a place that's going to hard-sell their program (I already have a Masters) but I don't want to jump through a lot of application hoops just for 2-3 classes. Tuition is not a big issue as I have $4000/year from my employer, which should cover about 2 classes a year. I am working full time and teaching too, so I'm going to have to fit class in between teaching classes. (more than two a year would be crazy). Oh, and I want to start a PhD in Business in the next five years. On the shortlist for that are NCU, Fielding and Union but it's too early to decide. NCU has an Accounting for Non-Profits but no other classes that would be new information for me. Any experience with this class? http://www.ncu.edu/course_catalog/course_information_desc.asp?course_code=FIN5018 DeVry has a Certificate of accounting http://www.devry.edu/keller/programs/accounting/courses.jsp that has some good courses. And I’d only have to go through one admissions process. Anyone with knowledge of this certificate or DeVry's MBA/Accounting degree? Other ideas? Thanks in advance.
Golden Gate University has a Master of Accountancy online, and I believe they also offer individual courses. Nova Southeastern also.
We have them as well http://www.strayer.edu/academic_step5.cfm?prog_id=CC1A6C53-B31D-4611-9C8641AD9CC35573&camp_id=D4386165-69E2-4A06-A1A691E05D2E0CB3°ree_id=D3203155-892C-4F27-B4343EC6CD31A824 (Master of Science in Professional Accounting) specializations in: -Controllership -Information Systems -Taxation http://www.strayer.edu/academic_step5.cfm?prog_id=060D9251-C919-4696-B24862DC9081EE1B&camp_id=F7BEDB19-AF01-4D14-9706793847AFA1A9°ree_id=C9D55B97-DDF4-4329-A5030FA7F6444C35 (Executive graduate certificate) -Accounting -Controllership -Information Systems -Taxation We are for-profit, but we are RA (middle states) and have a very good reputation in the area we serve (northern Virginia) Here is a link to another list I found that includes: Ellis (NYIT) and Grand Canyon U. http://www.directoryofschools.com/search/go.php?result=122935 A google search would probably yield similar results, you can check RA and AACSB/ACBSP status here. www.chea.org Good luck!
Thanks! These are good ideas...although I think I'm going to have to go with DeVry, since I have such a tight time frame. I finish teaching class on 6/20, go to Europe from 6/23-7/10 and start teaching again in September. So I want a class that runs from 7/10-9/10 or so, and DeVry's 8-week session fits in there perfectly, starts around the 10th. All the rest appear to be summer programs that start around 6/27. I can't tell from the web-site, are any of Strayer's programs run on the summer mini-session? Any other ideas?
The courses @ Strayer are all offered in quarters (11 weeks), the only courses that are offered via 5 week mini sessions are 100 level courses. Good luck with Devry, I know a few of their IT graduates, very smart and competent people.
