ACCET Seeking Expansion of Scope to Applied Bachelor's

ICYMI, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), whose current DOED-recognized scope is the accreditation of U.S. institutions "that offer continuing education and vocational programs that confer certificates or occupational associate degrees, including those programs offered via distance education," has been pursuing an expansion of scope to include applied bachelor's programs, and has published documents pertaining to a bachelor's degree pilot.

 

Given the downfall of ACICS , the other "National" accreditors (when the "Regional" distinction was still allowed) wanted a piece of the newly-opened pie. It's only natural that ACCET would want its share and try to increase its scope. According to Jonathan's links, they've had plans on the drawing board since 2016.

It would be nice to have this scandal-free accreditor take over part of the business. I say "Welcome!"
Another accreditor started with non-degree courses and then gradually increased their scope. Made a pretty good thing out of it, too. Now what do they call it? ...Oh yeah, DEAC!
