    That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying what economists say, that while markets may tend towards equilibrium, that's not the same thing as a standard, because it's disagreement about the value of things that makes trade worthwhile for both parties.

    Which makes values subjective, by definition. So what do you mean when you say people's skills aren't "worth as much"?
    Also, do you really think people who agree to sub-living wages think their skills and time are really worth even less? A problem with undergrad-level models is they only reflect life to a point.

    I actually have a religious argument to this: the Bible is very clear that withholding wages from workers is a grave sin. I think coercing people to work for less than the living wage is exactly this, even if it's the "market" doing the coercing.

    That's what it IS. Exactly. And nobody's lofty philosophical counterarguments will change my mind, so spare me. The only thing I see that remains to be discussed is the requisite punishment for a withholding employer. I'm all for summary execution, but with me, you get a lot of that -- so I'm open to alternatives.

    Perhaps, but they do a pretty good job outlining what a price floor does.

    Well, there's no arguing with logic like that.
