First, here's my situation: I am in the Air Force and have been for about 10 years. I am stationed in South Korea. I will be separating from the Air Force in May of 2006. I have been taking classes through UMUC for just under 2 years now. I have an AAS in Electronic Systems Technology through the CCAF and an AA (1 dantes from actually) in Computer Studies from UMUC. All total I have around 150 credits from Military and College sources and am looking to change schools to be able to get my BS faster.

UMUC tells me I still need 63 credits to graduate and I think I can do much better at a different school. I am leaning, about 90% actually, toward Excelsior. I have looked at most of their degree plans and think I have found one that would give me the most credits toward a BS. The degree is Bachelor of Science in Technology.

Does anyone have any guidance on this course of action? Am I being too greedy to want to get more credit out of my military experience? Will I even get more credit?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the different options for enrollment with Excelsior? They state I can save a considerable amount with "Option 1" (military). I filled in the online enrollment form and it said the enrollment fee is $175 which seems pretty good compared to their listed fees.

I don't mind taking classes through them if they are quality...anyone have any experience with Excelsior's online classes?

Thanks for your time everyone and I am really looking forward your responses.

p.s. Does anyone know if you can get the enrollment fee paid for by the G.I. Bill? I have the G.I. Bill plus the $4000 kicker so I should probably use some of it:) LOL

I can't see any reason to worry. Excelsior is a great organization and is especially military friendly. You should get the most for your military credits---you're not being "greedy" to make the best of your credits. You would be wasting your time and money to do otherwise.
