    Wow. Just... wow. It's bad enough that the janitor "turned off" the freezer, but it gets worse! I don't know why they're not suing him as well because, with everything they did to preserve the integrity of the samples, the janitor went from "helpful" and into "malicious" territory.

    Oh yeah, I read about this a day or so ago, accidents do happen, some people just don't understand what they are doing and don't know what will happen if they did so... We're talking about a janitor who cleans, and not to touch other stuff, I mean, many times in our offices, janitors accidentally unplug or trip over computer hardware/cables and some probably cause some data to go missing...

    If that's what happened, fair enough. But this guy ignored the sign that was put up and, when he couldn't unplug the freezer, turned off the electricity. That goes way beyond accident and into maliciousness.

    IIRC, they are suing his employer, not him.

    Yeah. They say it's a "training issue". I'm not sure how you'd train someone not to do what the guy did.

    Aversion therapy - perhaps administering electric shocks.
