It doesn't sound like there's any way to confirm this requirement except maybe by finishing one of the certificates within 30 days.

Yeah, I went through all the menu's and I don't see anything in regards to where they track the 30 minutes. To be on the safe side, just complete one of the courses or programs of your choice within the 30 days and you're set for the entire year. What I am doing is the 'programs' of interest first and then work my way down that list... 365+ days left for the program, there are less than 300 courses, if you're speedy and can get one course a day and you're done all of them! But I wouldn't rush it, just work at your own pace and maybe do only the ones you are really interested in before working on the single course options... I would do a few programs that interest you most.

Well, um, OK.... unless your religion has "academic gluttony" in its "Compendium of Sins." Then y'all might be facing the "Everlasting Lake of Fire," or sump'n. :) But I dunno much about these things -- your decision, folks, not mine.

I'm just wondering, though. 300 courses in one year - how much would actually "stick" vs. learn-and-forget? I think it's counter-productive.

Other providers I've used do track my time-on-course. And days when I don't log in. They display the stats and I think it's there as a reminder, to keep me on track, or get me back on, if I've been slacking off. It's never been an issue.

I'm sure any supplier COULD track it and not display it (to you) if they wanted to. It'd just need a counter in the program. Simplest thing going. Or they could give you a warning in the last few days of the month. Either could be what's happening here.

Grr. I hate how some courses aren't very clear about how long you'll have access. I signed up for a Marketing certificate, saw December, and got concerned. Oh, it's December 2024. Next year. So I signed up for the Harvard Data Science certificate. Well, that one's due December of this year. It's so stupid.

You signed up for the one with NINE courses -- and it expires in Dec. 2023? That's TOO stupid, even for Harvard! Are the young rascals of Cambridge MA playing Halloween pranks a little early? They should stick to what they know - tipping over outhouses etc.

Well, you sign up for one course at a time. I think they give you a 2-month deadline for each course. Frustrating.

I see, I think. So the first course must be done by end of 12/23 and the second by end of 2/24 etc? You'd actually have to do slightly better than one course every 60 days to finish by 12/24. Not very flexible, are they? If you find one easy and do it in 3 weeks, you can't stockpile the five weeks you save, for a course that turns out to be super-difficult -- or take the weeks as "time off" somewhere down the line, to devote to anything else.

Certainly not an "own pace" thing... If you could just "bank" unused time, it'd be considerably better. One size just doesn't fit all. Sometimes it doesn't fit anyone. Yet another lesson from Fashion School. :)

One more month left! I got this email earlier this morning Nov 1, at 7am!

Congratulations on your journey with the Verizon Skill Forward Program! We hope you’ve gained valuable knowledge and skills so far.

As a reminder, your subscription will end next month. That means you still have 30 days to complete any open courses or revisit topics you found helpful. We encourage you to make the most of this time and finish strong!

As with other edX courses, you’ll have lifetime free access to the course content even after your subscription ends. However, any courses not completed by the end of your subscription will require individual payment if you wish to continue them and earn a certificate after your subscription ends. So be sure to wrap up those final lessons while you can!

We’re so proud of the progress you’ve made and can’t wait to see how you apply your new skills. Thank you for being part of this program, and we hope it’s been a rewarding experience.

Keep up the great work, and let us know if you need any assistance along the way!

Their offerings were too limited for me. They would be great for techies; makes sense as Verizon is the sponsor. But I'm more into the humanities.

Is it video content only or also PDF to read content? Thanks :)

Most classes and programs I took via EDX, from Harvard, MIT and others are a mix of video, and reading materials.
Some classes had a good mix in addition to video lectures, and reading materials, we had plenty of practical work and submission of papers as well.

Update: I believe this is still being offered for anyone who signs up and gets verified. It's one year from your acceptance start date, for example, you get accepted 1/1/2025, you'll have a membership valid until 1/1/2026. It's a great deal if you would like certs and get some experience in whichever program you're looking at, these do not have ACE recommendation for credit though. Great addition to the Coursera Plus deal for $199US/year (or free if you get it from your company or state)...
