Nothing beats "University of Hawai'i at Manoa" for making great daydreams!

(In fact, what did I do with that application form?)

I'd rather be on the Big Island, so change that to "University of Hawai'i at Hilo" and you have a deal.

Way to rub salt in a wound, Steve! Back in 2008, I got a job offer from UH-Hilo. Full-time, non-TT instructor. Due to immigration/HR issues and relying on other leads (that didn't work out either), I ended up in a comparatively arctic Toronto instead.
Oh well, water under the bridge. I'm back in Florida now.

"West Coast Bible College" ... located in Texas. Still a pretty good school with some alliances with other universities.

There's both a North South University and an East West University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

There's an unrelated North South College in British Columbia. There's an unrelated East–West University in Chicago, and an unrelated East West College of Business and Technology in Alberta.

There was an academic program in North-South Studies at Dawson College in Montreal, now retooled into a program in Social Change and Solidarity.

Yes, I can see how the previous name sounded too objective and not enough like advocacy. /s

When Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Junior College, established 1937 in suburban Detroit, changed its name in 1982 to Madonna College, the Felician Sisters who operate it probably didn't anticipate how the singer using that name, also from suburban Detroit, would become a star within the next year or so.

Madonna College then became Madonna University in 1991.

Appropriate? Maybe. Remember Madonna's 1984 hit, "Like a Virgin?" :)

Yep. Better the "Big Island" than the "Big House," Steve. :)

Madonna is still very active, musically. 45 years a professional!

She's currently on tour. Her Celebration tour started in Oct 2023 and winds up in April 2024. The list of accomplishments, including philanthropic works, in her bio. is phenomenal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna Some lady!

@Lerner Me gusta mucho el nuevo nombre. Y en español la palabra correcta por "morons" es "imbéciles," que no hay en la Universidad.
I really like the new name. And the correct word in Spanish for "morons" is "imbéciles," of which there are none in the University.

I'm pretty sure that they stopped doing that a really, really long time ago.

Yes they did, Steve - I thought twice and that's why I removed the line from my post - probably around the time you were reading it. Use of those terms to describe specific IQ ranges belongs to the era when "Mentally Retarded" was an acceptable term. Thankfully -- gone.

I actually learned the use of those terms in 1961 in Educational Psych. class at Teachers' College. Sometimes I have too danged long a memory...
