I'll give you the gun thing, for the most part. You can still own guns in other countries, you just can't go down to 7-11 and pick one up with your morning coffee. Still doesn't sound very free to me, though. Not if that's the only thing separating the US from other countries.
It seems to me in recent days, the US is a place where freedoms are curtailed, rather than maintained. Yet one American in these pages said this, not that long ago: That includes, I suppose, Canada, where I have lived for 70 years and UK, where I was born and of which I am still a citizen. Yet the US has recently gone on a freedom-cancelling jag and is intent on the control of women's bodies. UK does not do that. Canada does not do that. If all this SCOTUS and State-generated nonsense - no, wickedness is a better word - isn't put a stop to, I think, Charles, that the sh*! will be in a different hole, if you get my meaning.
* As somebody here pointed out - UK is not entirely free of problems. There are some problems in Scotland with second-trimester abortions, whereby those seeking them have to travel to England. This is because individual health boards in Scotland say they are not equipped for the care needed after (whatever period of time - it varies,) The law of UK is clear - abortion is permissible up to 24 weeks. The situation is definitely unfortunate and inconvenient - and I think unfair - but the operations are still lawful and available (by travel to England). This is a problem - but it is in NO way indicative of any US-style regression on the subject of abortion. UK is not perfect -- but it is NOT um... what Charles said all other countries but US were.
Apparently all the convenience stores near me are slacking off in their gun sales departments, even if this is how the rest of the world thinks Americans have breakfast: Not being a gun owner, I've long felt more free in the Caribbean than I do in the US. And even there, there's private gun ownership.
Great pic! That's exactly how my cardiologist thinks I have breakfast! She says she doesn't care about the gun - but if she EVER smells bacon on my breath...
Maybe not quite 7-11, but I have been in multiple Walmarts where you can buy a gun (rifle) while you pick up that week's groceries. If you want a pistol, you head down to the local pawn shop. I think Dick's Sporting Goods also sells firearms. Plenty of "regular" gun shops, too, but I've never been in one.
Many retailers are Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers. An Instant Background check is a requirement for anyone to make a firearm purchase from a retailer.
Any shotgun has the potential of administering incredible damage in a very short period of time. Why do you think it's OK for a civilian to possess a shotgun but not a modern sporting rifle such as any of the variants of Eugene Stoner's designs,an AKM, or SKS 45?
Yes Sir. As I see it there are two sets of nations. There is the United States and there are the Shithole nations. Every nation that is not the United States is a Shithole nation. I know that is a coarse and provocative statement. I make no apology. It's just a sad fact.
Nope. I'll stand on that. Show me a Shithole nation that allows each of it's inhabitants all of the individual rights encompassed in our Bill of Rights.
We will have to disagree here. I decided to make this about me. This knucklehead is of a type. It's absolutely his right to curse the U.S. and renounce his citizenship for any reason. I declared - I cannot EVER imagine myself cursing the U.S. and renouncing my citizenship.
Except for gun ownership? The EU has all of them. Actually, more of them! Lots more. https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:12012P/TXT Especially now that the US is doing what it's doing. Which you'd know if you actually read anything. But you haven't. So you don't.
In conclusion, some of you may know last year I ran for Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was a vanity thing. I just declared myself a write-in candidate. I met many amazing people. I crashed a couple of GOP events. I was welcomed at twver my campaign I had several conversations with our now Lieutenant Governor, my Dear Services Sister, Winsome Sears, and our now Attorney General, Jason Miyares. Both immigrants who love the country. Each has an incredible story. Winsome Sears enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as soon as she was eligible. She continued her public service after serving. When he was very young his mother escaped Communist Cuba. Initially they went to Spain. After a time in Spain AG Miyares's mother decided to immigrate to the United States as it stands as a beacon of freedom for the whole world. People like this will never curse the United States.
